The Fairy Princess

The fairy princess, my sweet Sarah Beth
Came to my house to visit today.
Her sweet rosebud lips and kissy pink cheeks
They quite took my breath away.

The first thing she did was to fly up the stairs
And up to the attic to find
The perfect ensemble for putting on airs
She creates from old garments of mine.

Now Sarah, she likes to create things,
She likes painting, and cooking things, too.
She writes stories and beautifully illustrates them
There's no limit what Sarah can do.

Such fun times we have, just the two of us,
Down at the tree-house tree
Singing and swinging as high as we can
As the wind blows her curls wild and free.

We sing “Down at the Station”, “Little Red Caboose”
The train says, “Puff, puff” and “Toot, toot”
Then down to the pond where we look for tadpoles
Though it’s muddy we don’t give a hoot!!

Precious this day, though it can’t last forever
This dreamland of laughter and play
So, I hug her and squeeze her as tight as I can
To keep time from slipping away.
