"How high can you fly?" asked the bird of the squirrel
As she jumped from twig to twig.
Said the squirrel, "I can fly from the top to the bottom
If the tree is not very big."
"That's not what I mean!" chirped the bird in frustration,
"But to fly through the clouds and beyond."
Then she jumped from her perch and rose to the sky,
The place of which she was so fond.
The squirrel, with a shake of his billowy plume,
Sat and watched til the bird was no more.
Then he turned on his tail and resumed his pursuit
In his tree there contented to soar.
